The
"Road of Controguerra"
You
leave Martinsicuro and move towards the quaint Colonella
district where the scenic "Controguerra Road" begins. From Colonella
you first proceed towards Controguerra and then towards Ancarano,
a town offering delightful views of the Tronto Valley on one side
and the rolling hills of Val Vibata on the other. It is here, in
these picturesque hills, where the species of vine is grown for
which this road is named. After traveling a few kilometers along
this beautiful ridge you will turn left towards Torano Nuovo and
this is where what is perhaps the most beautiful part of the itinerary
begins. You will find yourself immersed in the countryside where
this ancient prized vine is grown. From Torano you proceed toward
Nereto and again towards Colonella
to complete this lovely tour. We suggest that you visit all the
villages along the way with their rich histories and traditions,
and that you take the tour in the spring when the hills are ablaze
with vivid colors. Naturally, the wineries along the way are also
well worth visiting.
